I have always wondered where the people in the days of the Old Testament went when they died before the coming of Jesus Christ? I understand the New Testament, but the Old Testament is confusing to me. Is Abraham, Moses, King David and others who followed the Lord in heaven now, or are they awaiting the second coming of Christ?

Eleanor,
Thanks for your comment. We have removed the word "aunt" since it is not really clear of their relation. When the Bible was translated, the word "cousin" meant "relative". Some people think that Elizabeth was probably Mary's aunt because of the age difference.

Wow!
This site is just awesome!
.
I have been raised as an average Christian Catholic, then became Christian Protestant/Evangelical during my Junior year of highschool. I have been walking with my Lord as a professing evangelical Christian for about two years now. I was always familiar with the stories of the old testament, but I never really understood the overlying history of the old testament. For example the transition from Noah and the flood, to the Hebrews being held as slaves in Egypt; how that happened exactly was always very fuzzy to me.
.
In this past year I was finally able to get some sort of a passion for studying God's word, but I only studied the new testament. I always found the old testament intimidating, because it is so full of history, and lineages, and because I don't find it nearly as interesting as the new testament which is rich in theology, in comparison. This site, as of today, has been very helpful in clearing a lot of things up, and helped me to connect every part of the bible (history as well as theology) together in one coherent Christian world view.
.
God is using who ever put this summary together in wonderful ways. May God smile upon you and keep you and use you for his glory for the rest of your life! :)

Praise God!

in finding this site i had a question about a specific much later part of the jewish lineage
the part that's starts hebrew of jewish linage...can be misleading in the phrasing and punctuation...if i had never heard or read or cared enough to actually remember Abraham was the begining of what became the isrealites and once again no matter which name they choose to use Jewish or isreal...is a nation once again over how many years and basic knowledge let alone all other forms and technology she has witnessed in her lifetime to that date....she was born in 1913 and passed over in 2001. She said so very clear in my memory as if it was yesterday that she had literally herself went from horse and buggy to putting a man on the moon and so much more that i have witnessed in my so short life that came to her in 1968....my general population of just my generation alone would read or sentence that Abraham 1 and only child if you don't have any biblical knowledge that jacob was not as misleading as even someone with more than a college degree in English...might very possibly read it as jacob was his son instead of his grandson...with using a comma as a "begat' or some type of generation notification. My apology if it seems petty...but just in my immediate family the youngest of one parent and the second youngest of the other...I can't really know if any one of all grand kids could with your page being the only reference would at least would read it and know that simple comma has more meaning than the present day vocabulary would even get the comma was possibly a typo...In any case...I found your site only because i was working on another project and didn't have a bible hand and did a google search on the jewish lineage from Adam to Jesus.

I've wondered sometimes, if I had been the rich young man who went away sorrowful, would I have responded any differently. I've never given all of my material things away, I have given my soul and my life to Christ. Today, I had the opprutunity, along with some other, to give of my self. We prepared and served a meal at a homeless shelter. It's much more than that, but I'll use that term. The thank yous and God bless yous came toward those of us that prepared and served the meal. I was and am humbled. They didn't see, the blessings came to us too!

I disagree that Ecclesiastes is a pessimistic book. The author, Solomon, is looking back at his life and is experiencing regret at the way he has led his life and how he focused his time and energy. But his goal is not to leave people there. He is actually trying to help people not follow down the same path that he did. He is trying to teach people how to live without regrets.

Unless we're willing to take a look at the consequences of our actions and learn from them, we'll never be able to plan for and experience a life that is truly worth living. SOlomon realized that and is trying to warn us all not to make the same mistakes he did.

This is a very informative site on how they summarize the Bible but one thing i did not find in all of this page is the name of GOD itself which we have to consider to know, if we want to be close to GOD then we must know His true name which illustrated in Psalm 83:18 "That people may know that you, whose name is Jehovah,
You alone are the Most High over all the earth."

its clear then that GOD has its own name, then why would we change it to a title i.e. God, Lord God?
